Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room

Shift: Mid Shift (11:00 AM - 11:30 PM)

Job Summary

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Room setting.
• Assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient needs and priorities.
• Triage patients safely, rapidly, and accurately upon entry to emergency care.
• Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals as needed.
• May be placed on call occasionally during low census periods; must be able to respond and arrive onsite within one hour if called in.
• Support unit preparation for Epic EMR go-live; Cerner and Epic EMR experience required.
• Must self-study telemetry strips upon acceptance; a basic dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week and must be passed to work in the Emergency Department.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa.
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Current certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
  • CPI or MOAB training completed prior to or upon onboarding.
• Telemetry experience and successful completion of a dysrhythmia competency test during the first week of assignment.
• Experience with Cerner and Epic electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

Additional Information

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Traveler will be responsible for self-study and passing a telemetry/dysrhythmia competency test.
• Occasional on-call availability may be required, with a response time of one hour.
