Job Description

Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care services.

Required Qualifications

• License: Active Respiratory Therapist license valid in Louisiana.

• Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA or ARC only)
  • ACLS (AHA only)
  • PALS (AHA only)
  • National Board Respiratory Therapist Certification (RRT from NBRC)

• Experience: Minimum years of experience not explicitly stated; ensure you meet or exceed typical requirements for Registered Respiratory Therapist roles.

• Skills & Competencies:

  • Completion of unit-specific skills checklist within one year prior to start, updated annually.
  • Completion of core competencies annually with a passing score of 80% or higher (includes HIPAA, Patient Bill of Rights, Safety Orientation, Bloodborne Pathogens, Fire Safety, Infection Control, Elder Abuse and Neglect, Age Specific Care, Cultural Diversity, Advance Directives).

• Health Requirements:

  • COVID-19 vaccine or approved exemption (optional).
  • MMR: Proof of 2 immunizations, positive titer, or declination with signed statement.
  • Fit Test: N95 mask fit test completed within 1 year prior to start, updated annually.
  • Hepatitis B: Proof of 3 immunizations, positive titer, or declination with required approvals.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season with medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation.
  • TB Test: Negative QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year or 2-step skin test; if positive, must provide clearance documentation.
  • Health Statement: Signed within 1 year confirming ability to work without restrictions.
  • Varicella: Proof of 2 immunizations, positive titer, or declination with signed statement.
  • Tdap: Proof of vaccination within past 10 years or declination with required approvals.
  • Annual TB Questionnaire: Required within 6 months of start; if positive, documentation of evaluation and treatment completion required.
  • Eye Exam & Color Vision: Ishihara Color Test and Snellen Vision test within 1 year prior to start.

• Background & Screening:

  • Criminal background check within 30 days prior to start, including SSN address trace, county and national checks, education and employment verification for last 5 years, and driving record.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start.
  • Competency exam with passing score of 80% or higher within 1 year prior to start.
