Physical Therapy Assistant - Outpatient

Location: Dillon, South Carolina
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Summary

• Administer physical therapy treatment plans to alleviate pain, restore function, prevent disabilities, and promote overall fitness and health.
• Implement treatments tailored to patient learning styles and therapeutic needs, considering psycho-social, cultural, and spiritual factors.
• Provide therapeutic interventions for musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular, and developmental impairments.
• Document patient progress with measurable and functional goals, maintaining records according to policy.
• Collaborate regularly with Physical Therapists to discuss patient goals and progress.
• Participate in professional development, including competency training, clinical instruction, in-service coordination, mentoring, and performance improvement.
• Communicate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members regarding treatment, progress, and recommendations.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and orderly work environment using appropriate health and safety equipment.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in South Carolina (primary source verification required).
• Minimum of 1 year of Physical Therapy Assistant experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Certification from the National Board for Certification of Surgical Technologists and Surgical Assistants (NBSTSA).

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Proof of immunizations or titers (no declinations accepted) for:

  • MMR (2 immunizations or titer with lab report)
  • Hepatitis B (3 vaccinations or titer with lab report)
  • Varicella (2 immunizations or titer with lab report)
• Influenza vaccine required during September through April (medical/religious exemptions considered with documentation).
• Tuberculosis screening:

  • 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) with timing requirements before start.
  • Annual negative PPD or TB questionnaire as applicable.
  • If positive PPD, negative chest X-ray within 90 days of start.
• 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (rapid drug screen not accepted).

Documentation and Background Checks

• Resume or professional profile required for submission. References preferred but not mandatory.
• Criminal background check within 60 days of start, covering last 7 years, including county, statewide, national searches, OIG, EPLS, OFAC, NSOP, SS trace, and education verification. Updated annually.
• Employment verification for the past 5 years.
• Social Security card copy required.
• Skills checklist completed prior to start and updated annually.
• Confirmation of assignment form required.

Additional Notes

• Fit test for respiratory protection equipment is required for travelers, to be completed within one year of start (make/model must be provided).
• Adjustments to schedules may be necessary to accommodate caseload changes.
• Professional growth and education participation are expected.
