Requirements & Compliance

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required for NICU RNs
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – as applicable
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – as applicable
• RRTs require NBRC certification

Licensure

• Ohio State or Compact RN license for RNs
• Ohio State license for RRTs (address on license must match photo ID)
• NURSYS verification for RNs, LPNs/LVNs

Background Checks & Screenings

• Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting within 60 days of start (must be updated for each new contract)
• Sex offender search within 30 days of start
• State-specific searches (Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Inmate Registry, Medicaid Exemption, Abuse Registry) within 30 days of start
• Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days of start
• References: 2 professional references required (Charge RN acceptable for one)
• Employment application and resume required
• Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually

Health & Immunization

• Physical exam (within 1 year of start) or signed Infection Control Policy
• TB testing options: 2 PPDs or QGOLD/TSPOT within 12 months; additional requirements if positive
• Flu vaccine required annually (Oct 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
• Hepatitis B: declination, completed vaccine series, or positive titer required
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if negative/equivocal
• N95 Fit Testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually
• Fingerprinting proof of submission required within 24-48 hours of signing contract
