Weekend Requirement: Every other Saturday, off every Sunday
Patient Ratio: 1:5
Patient Population: Adult patients with acute medical conditions including cardiac, neurological, renal, infectious disease, pulmonary, and more
Role: Coordination of direct patient care and education

Certifications Required

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
NIH Stroke Certification – Required for ICU, PCU, ED, and Float Pool; must be updated annually

Licensure

Valid Virginia or Compact State RN License required

Facility & Work Environment

Acute Care Hospital with 255 staffed beds
Charting system: Meditech
Scrub color: Black or Caribbean blue
Free parking in unrestricted spaces
Local radius rule: Permanent address must be 50+ miles from facility (locals not accepted)

Background & Compliance Requirements

Government-issued photo ID required
7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
Virginia State Police National Criminal Background Check fingerprinting (effective 7/15/2025)
Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (including marijuana; zero tolerance policy)
Physical exam within 1 year of start, renewed annually
Fit mask test (N95 preferred), updated annually
Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap vaccine within past 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or positive titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31) or approved medical/religious exemption
