Job Opportunity: RRT-NICU (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Position requires floating to different units as needed.
  • Prefers candidates with close to 2 years of experience in the specialty.
  • Requires 2 supervisory or manager professional references (charge RN acceptable for one). Peer references are not accepted.

Required Qualifications

  • License: Ohio State license required for Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT).
  • Experience: Approximately 2 years preferred in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty.
  • References: 2 professional supervisory references required at submission.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid government-issued photo ID matching legal name on license and certifications.
  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year county search and education verification.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
  • Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting within 60 days of start, must be updated for each new contract.
  • Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse or equivalent.
  • Sex offender, nurse aide, inmate, Medicaid exemption, and abuse registry searches required within 30 days of start.
  • Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
  • Affiliating Health Record must be completed and uploaded.
  • Infection Control Policy review and signature required prior to start.
  • Fit mask (N95) testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required within 10 years of start (after age 11).
  • TB testing options include 2 PPDs or QGOLD/TSPOT within 12 months; additional requirements if positive.
  • Annual flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions require approval and documentation.
  • Drug screening (9 panel) within 60 days prior to start, including amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, marijuana, methadone, phencyclidine, fentanyl.
  • Required certifications include:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as applicable
    • NBRC certification for RRTs
    • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) as applicable
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam and other competency exams as applicable.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.

Additional Notes

  • Floating to various units is required.
  • Legal name on all documents must match exactly (no nicknames or aliases).
  • Candidates with positive TB results must complete additional questionnaires and follow facility protocols.
  • Fingerprinting results may pend at start if facility completes onsite fingerprinting.
  • Fit testing documentation must be completed annually regardless of facial hair; options available for candidates with beards.
  • Candidates must provide proof of all required vaccinations and certifications; screenshots or photos are not accepted for compliance documentation.

This position is ideal for experienced RRTs with NICU specialty looking for a travel contract in Ohio with a reputable healthcare system.
