Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
  • Shift: 5x8 hour shifts, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
  • Call Requirements: One 12-hour shift per month on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday), either 7 AM - 7 PM or 7 PM - 7 AM
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no holiday RTO; no RTO the day before or after a holiday; no RTO on weekends
  • Floating: Mandatory float facility; all clinicians must float within their scope as needed
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Experience Requirements

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in the Operating Room
  • Required Experience:
    • Level 1 Trauma experience
    • Strong scrub and circulate skills
    • Experience in Orthopedics, Orthopedic Trauma, Vascular, Urology, General Surgery
  • Preferred Experience: Neurosurgery (cranial and spine), Open Heart/Thoracic, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatric, Gynecology

Certifications Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Location & Licensing

  • Locals accepted; preference for candidates living within 75 miles of the facility
  • Pending licenses are NOT accepted

Facility Highlights

  • Scrub color: Navy Blue (provided)
  • Charting system: Cerner

Additional Requirements & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • Background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
  • Various background screenings including EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) required annually
  • Immunizations and health documents required: Tdap, Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT), MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests required within 12 months of start
  • Mandatory completion of facility-specific forms and rules of behavior

  • Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required for this position
  • Must be willing to float as per facility needs
  • No block scheduling available
