Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical) - Travel/Contract

Location: Oxford, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Staff Development Coordinator RN

  • Responsibilities include:

    • Orienting new employees to the facility
    • Providing or scheduling educational in-services for nurses and nursing staff
    • Organizing an annual skills day for nurses and nursing assistants
    • Ensuring all nurses and nursing assistants have up-to-date licenses/certifications
    • Completing and mailing nursing assistant renewal forms
    • Monitoring and investigating all incidents and medication errors
    • Monitoring infections within the facility
    • Available to provide direct patient care as needed 24/7
    • Assuming on-call nurse responsibility per policy
    • Other duties as assigned by Director of Nursing and/or Administrator
  • Experience Required:

    • Long Term Care (LTC) experience required
    • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
    • Years of experience: Not explicitly stated, but LTC experience is mandatory (assume minimum 2 years)
  • Certifications Required:

    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - required prior to start and must be current throughout assignment
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - required for all candidates

    • Background checks including 7-year criminal check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
    • Proof of I9 or attestation
    • Government issued photo ID required during hours of service
    • Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 4 weeks of start
    • Immunizations or positive titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Drug screening (9 panel) within last 12 months
    • Flu vaccination or facility-specific medical/religious exemption required during flu season
    • Proof of 2 clinical references
    • Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
