Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Per Diem
Location: Portland, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Float to all acute care units as needed, including:
- 9K Ortho/Spine
- 10K ENT/Neuro/Stroke
- 11K Cardiac IMC
- 13K Med/Surg Onc
- 14K Bone Marrow Transplant
- 4A Abdominal Transplant
- 5AC Medicine
- 6A Overflow
- 10A Emergency General Surgery
- 13A Trauma
- 14A General Surgery
- 14C Medicine
- Outpatient Care Unit (OCU)
- Must be committed to working night shifts
- 12-hour shifts
- Patient ratio approximately 1:5
- Rolling start dates; orientation limited to 3 candidates at a time
- Orientation length and timing vary based on unit and candidate experience
- Facility expects RN to pick up shifts immediately after orientation completion
- Charting system: Epic (experience required)
- Scrub color: Any
Requirements
- Valid RN license in Oregon
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience working with adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Experience in acute care and outpatient settings
- Knowledge and practice of isolation precautions
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Orientation & Credentialing
- Credentialing process takes 4+ weeks
- Orientation requested 2 weeks in advance
- Orientation dates vary; some dates are unavailable (e.g., 3/10/26, 4/7/26)
- Travel nurses will be asked about previous units worked and comfort level to determine orientation needs
- Prior experience at the facility should be noted
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid government-issued photo ID required on first day
- Background check within 6 months prior to start (includes education and work history verification, international searches if applicable)
- National Sex Offender Search within 30 days prior to start
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel with methamphetamines listed, within 3 months prior to start
- Physical exam: Required to meet Aya standard (within 1 year of start)
- Fit mask test: Required within 1 year prior to start (N95 or equivalent)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine or signed declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- TB questionnaire
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (immune titer, vaccines, or declination)
- Hepatitis B (full vaccine series, immune titer, or declination)
- Varicella (immune titer, vaccines, or declination)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or signed declination (deadline 12/01/2025)
- References: Two manager or supervisor references from last 24 months required
- Employment application must include at least 7 years of work history
Facility Specific Requirements
- Must review and sign professional appearance policy, job description, coronavirus protocol attestation, and other facility-specific documents prior to start
- Completion of required Compass modules prior to start (varies by role; RN modules include Information Privacy, Integrity Foundations, Respect at the University, and others)
- Medication override test provided during orientation (not required before start)
- Restraints training required annually (except OR/Surgical Techs)
- Additional unit-specific modules and competencies may be required depending on assignment
- Must be fully available for compliance needs up until start date

- Candidates must confirm commitment to night shifts and immediate shift availability post-orientation
- Rolling start dates with limited orientation slots
- Prior experience at the facility is advantageous and should be noted
