Job Description

  • Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), including consulting with physicians on nutrition support requests.
  • Coordinate and maintain medical records related to clinical nutrition, ensuring compliance with OMH regulations.
  • Complete individual nutrition notes, annual assessments, progress notes, and process diet changes.
  • Attend treatment team and discharge meetings.
  • Make recommendations to the treatment team to maintain or improve nutritional status and adjust diet regimens accordingly.
  • Conduct nutrition groups for clients when assigned.
  • Ensure adherence to OMH regulations and overall nutritional health and safety of individuals.
  • Perform diet office duties in the absence of the Diet Technician.
  • Proficient computer skills required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Hours

  • Full-time
  • Shift: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM

Required Certifications and Compliance

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • State Professional License (applicable for RNs, CNAs, LVN/LPNs; verify if applicable)
  • Competency Exam required for all candidates
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (for RNs and LPNs)

Background and Health Requirements

  • Criminal Background Check including fingerprinting (to be completed onsite except for certain facilities)
  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start date
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months prior to start (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD accepted)
  • Annual TB Questionnaire completion required
  • Vaccination documentation or titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (vaccination, titers, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Drug Testing: 9-panel within 1 year of start (instant tests acceptable)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination (2025-26)
  • COVID-19 Vaccine Booster preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required
  • New York State Medicaid Enrollment documentation may be required depending on facility policies
