Respiratory Therapist (RRT) — Adults
Job Overview
- Travel/contract role in Roanoke, Virginia
- Day shift: 3x12s, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Must work one holiday per contract
- May be required to float within skillset
- Accepts first-time travelers
- Does not accept local candidates
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (1 year of experience)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Critical care experience in high-volume emergency department and Level 1 Trauma Center settings including neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU
- ABG interpretation and ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, flow-by, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Airway management including extubation, oral/nasal airway placement, suctioning, sputum collection, and tracheostomy care
- Aerosol and medication delivery systems including mask, trach, MDI, and Medihaler administration
- Oxygen therapy and nebulizer setup proficiency including handheld, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic systems
- Experience with Epic
Clinical Skills
- ABG interpretation and ventilator management, including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, flow-by, high-pressure alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Airway management, including extubation, oral/nasal airway placement, suctioning, sputum collection, and tracheostomy care
- Oxygen therapy and nebulizer setups
- Aerosol and medication delivery systems
- Administration of respiratory medications and therapies listed in the source
Charting
- EPIC experience required
Scheduling
- Weekend coverage may be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
Facility Notes
- Adult patient population
- Ratio: 1:25
- Uses ventilator management and liberation protocols
- Equipment includes Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow heated high flow, iNO with iNOvent, and LTV1200
