Overview
- Travel/contract RN position in Kansas City, Missouri
- 13-week assignment
- Night shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
- Patient ratio: 1:5
- First-time travelers accepted
- Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required
- Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be needed
- Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period
- Block scheduling is not available
- Local candidates are not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
- Pending license is not accepted
- Requested time off cannot exceed 7 days
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Preferred Experience
- Previous charge experience
- Teaching hospital experience
Key Clinical Skills
- MS/Tele, telemetry, cardiac telemetry, ER holding, neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Telemetry unit and remote monitoring
- Rapid response team use
- Post-cardiac, angiogram, post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, and pre/post cardiac surgery care
- IV insulin protocols
- Feeding tube care and management
- Pre/post hemodialysis management
- Blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, peripheral line care, PICC management, and starting IVs
- Heparin protocols, cardiac drips, PCA, procedural sedation administration
- CVA care
- Peripheral nerve block catheters and total joint replacements
- Surgical drains
- Chest tubes, CPAP/BIPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy management
- Isolation precautions
- Wound care and wound vac
