Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract Opportunity in Columbus, Ohio
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU)
- Location: Columbus, Ohio
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Work Schedule: Includes weekends and rotating holidays
- Floating: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 3 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- MedSurg nursing experience
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Experience with Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification) – verify per assignment specifics
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required prior to start)
- Unit-specific competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
- Remediation process available for failed EKG exam attempts (max 3 attempts)
Background & Credentialing Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
- Monthly monitoring of EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG sanctions
- Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- License verification within 30 days of start, including NURSYS verification for RNs
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
- TB questionnaire required annually in lieu of TB test renewal
- Immunizations or titers required:
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, and Rubella
- Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella vaccine or positive titer (medical exemptions require documentation)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending results)
Facility & Compliance Policies
- Must review and sign dress code and hand hygiene policy
- Required to complete Confidential Fraud Waste Abuse and Compliance Reporting Mechanism form
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required annually

Additional Notes
- Fingerprinting results must be obtained prior to start; new fingerprinting required if break in service exceeds 90 days or results are older than 1 year
