Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM)

Job Description

• Provide respiratory therapy services primarily for pediatric patients.
• Work with patients diagnosed with conditions such as cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, birth injury, motor vehicle accidents, spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), Trisomy 21, and Rett syndrome.
• Utilize specialized respiratory equipment including CPT machines, Volara, metaneb, cough assist devices, ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, and tracheostomies.
• Scheduled to work every other weekend.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in Iowa.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year.
• Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Background checks including 7-year residence/work history, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks; updated annually.
• Education verification for respiratory therapy degree.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam with minimum passing score of 80% or higher if Angoff score applies.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
• Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, renewed annually; onsite fit testing available if needed.
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year; if past positive, negative chest x-ray within 1 year plus annual TB questionnaire.
• Immunization or immunity documentation for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters or declination if low titers)
  • Hepatitis B (immune titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella (immune titer or 2 vaccines; history of chickenpox not accepted; boosters or declination if low titers)
• 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.
• Seasonal flu and COVID vaccines are highly recommended but not required; declination forms available. Unvaccinated staff must mask in patient care areas.
• Completion of Child and Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter training.
• Iowa Single Contact Repository (SING) check within 30 days of assignment start, including criminal, dependent adult, child abuse, and sex offender searches.
• Facility-specific confidentiality agreement and orientation acknowledgments.
• Annual skills checklist required.
