NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – San Francisco, CA
Job Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (NICU Level III)
- Location: San Francisco, California
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per week: 36
- Float assignments to Pediatrics, PICU, and Nursery units
- No call required; every other weekend off
Clinical Responsibilities
- Care for Level III NICU patients, including surgical cases and infants 23 weeks gestation and older
- Experience with cooling therapy, all respiratory modes, PICC lines, bronchoscopy, LISA, VCUG, MRI, swallow studies, and line insertions
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 1 year of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, with NICU experience within the last year
- Completion of an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Required Health and Immunization Documents
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared for work
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
- Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (TDAP booster required)
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 90 days) or 2-step PPD; annual renewal required
- Immunity or vaccination documentation for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or declination)
- Varicella
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30)
- Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually
Additional Requirements
- Complete facility-specific documents and trainings prior to start, including:
- Job description review/signature
- Standards of Business Conduct
- Vendor training and Code of Conduct (for current and future years as applicable)
- TB screening questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider
- Conditional offer of employment attestation (no conditional clearances allowed at this facility)
- Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps
- Work history verification for up to 7 years; gaps over 30 days must be explained
- Two professional references within 3 years (clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates)
Competency and Testing
- Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some telemetry units
- ICU and MS/Telemetry RNs at this location must pass an onsite EKG exam after start
