Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Travel/Contract)
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Night shift options:
- 9:00 PM – 7:00 AM (4 days of 10-hour shifts)
- 11:00 PM – 7:30 PM (5 days of 8-hour shifts)
- Monday through Friday with rotating weekends
Job Description
- Must have Operating Room (OR) experience.
- Responsibilities include working between x-ray and assisting with imaging in the OR.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technologist license in Illinois.
- At least 1 year of Radiology Technologist experience within the last year.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Operating Room (OR) experience.
Certifications (as applicable)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA only
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA only (required for certain adult inpatient and procedural areas)
- Other certifications may be required depending on specific unit assignment (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification for Interventional Radiology).
Background Checks & Compliance
- Criminal background check within 6 months of start (7-year search including alias, county, and national sex offender searches).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks must be run within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, PA, NP, or DO confirming fitness for duty.
- N95 mask fit testing within 1 year (not required for sterile processing or clerical roles).
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol (PPD or Quantiferon Gold).
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination).
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Dec 1 – Apr 30).
Competency & Skills Verification
- Unit-specific competency exams required and must be updated every 3 years.
- Medication test/pharmacology competency as applicable.
- Color blindness test (Ishihara 14-plate) required for all candidates.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for RNs in certain units (not applicable here).
- Annual OSHA training and Core Parts I, II, III training required.
Documentation & Onboarding
- Photo for badge (plain background, jpeg) required 2 weeks prior to start.
- Signed facility-specific policies including fingernail policy and compliance checklists.
- Completion of facility online training modules prior to orientation (not required for sterile processing techs).
- Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist must be submitted.
- Two professional references required, including one from a direct supervisor.
