Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Columbus, Georgia

Patient Population
- Infants to Geriatrics (Primarily Adult RRT but includes Pediatric intubated patients)
Shift Details
- Night Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 to 7:00)
- Hours per week: 36
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within facility and sister campus as needed
- No call requirements
Facility & Work Environment
- Level 2 trauma center
- Interventional stroke certified
- Level 3 NICU and regional transport resource
- Uses Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, Viasys Vela, GE Carescape, Viasys Avea systems
Clinical Responsibilities
- Manage non-invasive and conventional ventilation
- Aerosol therapy
- Bedside pulmonary function tests (Spirometry preferred)
- Perform arterial lines and arterial blood gases
- Oxygen management and patient education
- Draw blood from lines
- Trauma experience required
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Georgia Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) License
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Trauma experience
Orientation & Compliance
- Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
- Full compliance with all onboarding requirements required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length
Holidays
- Expected to work major holidays if they fall within assignment period:
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving/Black Friday
- Christmas Eve/Christmas Day
- New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
Blackout Dates (No shifts available)
- Night shift: June (total blackout), July 5th-31st, August 1st-2nd
- Day shift: June (total blackout), July 15th-31st, August 1st-9th
Required Pre-Employment Documents & Health Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID (photo ID required)
- Background check completed within 30 days prior to start (including education verification and criminal history)
- Diploma or transcript verification for RRTs
- State license verification within 30 days prior to start
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or chest x-ray if positive history
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations or titers required:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- Color blindness test required
- Competency exams as applicable (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG)
Additional Requirements
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months
- Verification of most recent work history (can be pending at start with proof)
- Two clinical references required
- Must review and sign facility code of conduct and dress/professional appearance policies prior to start
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity trauma and NICU environment with a diverse patient population, requiring strong respiratory therapy skills and certifications. Prior travel experience is not required.
