ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Worcester, MA


Job Details

  • Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Unit: Surgical ICU (SICU) with trauma and transplant patients
  • Patient Acuity: High acuity, busy hospital environment
  • Patient Ratio: 1:1 to 1:2
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Float Requirement: Must float to other adult ICUs and stepdown units as needed
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Massachusetts
  • Minimum 2 years of Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start (all counties lived/worked)
    • Includes SSN trace, national criminal search, education verification, and other standard checks
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
    • Required immunizations or valid declinations for: COVID-19, Flu, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, TDAP
    • Drug screening within 30 days of start
  • Additional Compliance:
    • Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance within 30 days prior to start
    • Education verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if verification unavailable)
    • Medication and telemetry competency exams required on first day of orientation (minimum 80% to pass)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates with previous travel experience and Level I Trauma experience may be considered but are not required.
  • The role involves care for trauma and transplant patients in a high-acuity surgical ICU setting.
  • Telemetry exam is required only for RNs working in telemetry-monitored units; this unit requires passing the telemetry test.
  • Must be prepared to float to other adult critical care and stepdown units as needed.

This position is ideal for experienced SICU RNs seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity, trauma-focused ICU environment with night shifts.
