Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours

Job Description

• Provide clinical radiology services following established practice standards to ensure optimal department function.
• Demonstrate proficiency with all x-ray equipment and perform all x-ray protocols and procedures.
• Work schedule includes floating and weekend shifts (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
• Pediatric (PEDS) experience is required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Radiology Technologist license in Louisiana.
• Minimum 2 years of Radiology Technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
• One completed travel assignment as a Radiology Technologist.
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Experience working with Pediatric patients.
• X-Ray Technician experience.

Required Competencies and Certifications

• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually).
• Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) required annually.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (updated annually).
• State license verification within 30 days of start.
• Photo for badge required.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start (two-step skin test or equivalent).
• Annual TB questionnaire.
• Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola) – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer.
  • Mumps – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer.
  • Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer.
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer.
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declinations must be signed within 12 months of start).
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31), with exemptions and declinations accepted under specific conditions.
• Drug screening within 30 days of start, including a comprehensive panel of substances.

Additional Requirements

• Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps longer than 30 days.
• Scrub colors: Any color allowed.
• Must comply with employee appearance policy.

Summary

This is a travel contract position for an experienced X-Ray Tech with pediatric experience, working night shifts on weekends. Candidates must have at least 2 years of specialty experience and prior travel contract experience. Licensure and certifications must be current and verifiable. Comprehensive background checks, health screenings, and immunizations are mandatory.
