Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Float

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 – 7:15)
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Days and weekends: 1:5-6
    • Nights: 1:6
  • Float Assignments: Nurses will float within scope to medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, renal, and cardiology units.
  • Weekend Requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (every other weekend), plus holiday rotation.
  • Guaranteed Hours: Minimum 3 shifts per 13-week contract.
  • Local Radius Rule: No locals accepted within 75 miles.
  • Pending License: Accepted.
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract.
  • Special Equipment: Use of lift devices, ceiling lifts, and bladder scanner (training provided).
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Parking: Free parking available
  • Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri (pending licenses accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in Med Surg / Telemetry
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • IV start certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide and nationwide).
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG quarterly checks.
    • Education verification of highest nursing degree.
    • State-specific searches and highway patrol checks as applicable.
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
    • Fit mask test (N95 respirators) with annual renewal.
    • Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (or declination)
      • TB testing (2 negative PPDs or equivalent within 1 year)
      • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer, vaccines, or declination)
    • Drug testing within 1 year, including specific panels (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.).
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01).
  • Facility-Specific Documents:
    • HIPAA Acknowledgement (annual)
    • Latex Allergy Questionnaire (annual)
    • Confidentiality Form (annual)
    • Regulatory Compliance Education and Quiz (annual, 80% passing score)
    • TB Questionnaire (annual)
    • Hand Hygiene and Fingernail Policies (signed prior to start)
    • Dress Code Policy (signed prior to start)
    • Orientation Modules (approximately 16 hours, required for all RNs)
    • Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, taken within 6 months)

Additional Requirements

  • References: Two professional references required; supervisors preferred within the last year.
  • Skills Checklist: Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start; oncology skills checklist required for Med Surg-Oncology unit.
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required.
    • Unit-specific competency exam required annually; oncology competency exam required for oncology unit.
  • On-Call: Not required.
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated.
  • Floating Process:
    • Pre-assigned units communicated with timeframe.
    • Float pool nurses receive unit assignment up to 1 hour before shift start via recorded line.
