Registered Nurse – Telemetry

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Heart & Vascular Unit (49 beds) – specialty medical/surgical, fast-paced
• Care for cardiovascular patients including stable heart and lung transplants, and Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs)
• Sister unit to Cardiac Progressive Care Unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 days / 1:6 nights (night ratio may occasionally be 1:7)

Schedule & Floating

• 36 or 48-hour shift options available
• Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period
• Floating required frequently to meet staffing needs, including to multiple units and potentially to a sister campus
• Floating units may include medical/surgical, neuro, trauma, observation, and specialty units
• Travelers are first to float

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license valid in Nebraska (pending license accepted but must be in hand before start)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital (highest experience requirement)
• EPIC charting experience required
• Drip medication administration required on all floors
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA standards)
• NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• CPI certification preferred
• First-time travelers NOT accepted unless they have 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
• Must be nicotine-free (100% nicotine-free facility)
• Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract
• Scrubs required (specific color and style mandated)

Additional Requirements & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background check within 30 days of start, including federal enhanced search and multiple verifications
• Ongoing monthly SAM and OIG checks required
• Education verification required
• State-specific registry checks required
• Primary source license verification required prior to start
• Drug screen within 60 days of start and updated annually
• Physical exam and fit mask test required within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tdap within last 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray documentation
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
  • COVID vaccine preferred (medical/religious exemption accepted)
• Annual skills checklist required
• References: 2 work references from past 2 years required

Important Notes

• Travelers must be prepared to float frequently within scope of practice
• Up to two weeks of time off (RTO) permitted, with restrictions during certain blackout dates
• Parking permits available for a monthly fee or daily parking options
• Facility is a teaching hospital with complex patient population and advanced care teams

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with strong cardiovascular or telemetry skills who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, specialty medical/surgical environment and are flexible with floating assignments.
