Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Torrance, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Must be flexible working weekends (weekend requirements depend on contract length)
- Precepting skills preferred
- Support AM shift primarily
- May be required to float to mother-baby units and nearby facilities within a reasonable distance
- Local candidates within a 50-mile radius considered
- No on-call required
- Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager discretion

Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) with valid California RN license
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Certifications required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- AWHONN certification
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to float to mother-baby units as needed
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Drug screen (10 panel) within 90 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator clearance required annually for travel candidates
- Fit mask testing required (with acceptable mask types)
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years
Training and Competency
- Must complete required WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
- Core regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules for Labor & Delivery, including mother-baby/couplet care/postpartum
- Epic training modules (completion required for access)
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (AWHONN or NCC) or equivalent training required
- Other competencies and certifications may be required based on unit and specialty
Notes
- First-time travelers accepted
- Pending licenses are not accepted
- Floating to other units/facilities within the region may be required
- Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period
- Local candidates accepted
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who are flexible, have strong clinical skills, and are willing to support multiple related units within an acute care hospital setting.
