Job Opportunity: Infusion Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in an outpatient clinic infusion setting, primarily administering chemotherapy.
  • Patient-to-nurse ratio approximately 1:6-7.
  • May float between multiple nearby locations as needed.
  • Charting using EPIC system.
  • Schedule includes 1 Saturday per month; no Sundays required.
  • No block scheduling approved.
  • Open to first-time travel nurses and local candidates.
  • Any scrub color allowed.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1+ years of experience in outpatient infusion or oncology nursing.
  • Chemotherapy certification required.

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in New Jersey.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate for adults; APHON for pediatrics).
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (confirm with coordinator):
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Preferred but not required for this role.
    • Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification, etc., generally not required for this position.

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • 1 Saturday per month, no Sundays.
  • No block scheduling.
  • May float between infusion clinic and cancer center locations as needed.

Clearance & Compliance Requirements

  • Must clear background checks including criminal, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific exclusions.
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe.
  • Physical exam within the last 12 months confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease.
  • Respiratory medical clearance and fit testing required prior to start.
  • Annual influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required.
  • Completion of required competency exams (medication/pharmacology, IV therapy/infusion, dysrhythmia/EKG, etc.) within specified timeframes.
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation and safety training, including annual education sign-off.
  • Submission of employment application or resume with 7 years of work history.
  • Two professional references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must provide government-issued photo ID and driver’s license within 48 hours of signing.
  • Candidates with name changes must provide proof and ensure all names are included in background checks.
  • Candidates must complete required online and/or in-person training modules as applicable.
  • Facility requires adherence to floating policy for assignments between sites.
  • Candidates must comply with all health document requirements including immunizations and screenings.
