Registered Nurse - PACU

Location: Spartanburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, days (Monday to Friday) with alternating days off
  • Hours:
    • Pre-Op: 5:30 AM - 4:00 PM
    • Recovery: 8:30 AM - 7:00 PM
  • Call Requirements: After-hours or weekend cases
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
  • First-time travelers accepted: Yes
  • Local candidates: Not accepted within 75 miles radius
  • Pending license: Accepted if obtained prior to start

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA required, RQI acceptable
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA required
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA required
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for some units)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) - includes arrhythmia and drug calculation tests
  • State RN License - Primary Source Verification required
  • NURSYS Verification (for RNs)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • STABLE certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Ability to work 4 consecutive 10-hour day shifts with call requirements
  • Must meet all health and background check requirements prior to start

Health & Background Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year, attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or declination)
    • Varicella
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination (seasonal requirement)
    • COVID-19 vaccination (dose 1 and 2 required or declination form)
  • Drug screening within 60 days of start (10 panel + Oxycodone + Marijuana)
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance if respirator use is required (annual)
  • Background check: 7-year criminal history, education verification, and other compliance checks

Additional Requirements

  • Must submit all requested documents (I9, government-issued photo ID, Social Security card if applicable, E-Verify proof)
  • Pass all required competency exams and skills checklists annually
  • Facility-specific documents and acknowledgements required prior to start
  • References and employment application required

Notes

  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with initial application; no changes accepted afterward
  • Candidates must carry photo ID during working hours
  • Candidates must pass all required exams by the second attempt

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of PACU or Pre-Op experience who are open to travel assignments and meet the outlined certification and health requirements.
