Job Description
- Position involves floating to multiple units including NICU, Cardiovascular PICU, Emergency Department, Stepdown, and Medical-Surgical as needed.
- Must be willing to comply with float pool expectations and assignments.
- Recent Level 1 PICU experience required.
- Preferred minimum of 2 years of experience in PICU; candidates with closer to 3 years of PICU experience will be considered even if first-time travelers.
- Requires 2 supervisory references, including at least 1 from a supervisor or manager.
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Ohio State or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required for NICU assignments.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification.
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certification.
- Current state license verification required within 30 days of start.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of 3 years of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience, including recent Level 1 PICU experience within the last year.
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients.
- At least 2 years of overall PICU experience.
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
- Willingness and ability to float across multiple critical care units.
- 2 professional supervisory references required, including at least one from a supervisor or manager.
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year county search and education verification.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting required within 60 days of start and must be updated for each new contract.
- Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse or equivalent required.
- Sex offender search and state-specific registry checks required within 30 days of start.
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start.
- Annual background check required for direct candidates.
- Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Infection Control Policy review and signature required prior to start.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within last year; additional testing required for positive results.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required within last 10 years (must be completed after age 11).
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted with facility approval.
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination required.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella immunity required (positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal).
- N95 fit testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start required (facility accepts Infection Control Policy in lieu of physical exam copy).
Additional Information
- Candidates must provide current government-issued photo ID matching their legal name on license and certifications.
- Address on driver’s license must not be within 60 miles of the facility to avoid being considered local.
- Resume or employment application required.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.
