Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technician (CVOR) with scrub experience for a travel contract position. First-time travelers and local candidates are welcome.
Shift Details
- Evenings: 2 shifts of 8 hours and 2 shifts of 12 hours (approx. 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM and 10:30 AM - 11:00 PM)
- Call required
- Weekend rotation
- Flexibility to work anytime between 6:30 AM and 11:00 PM
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years total experience as a Certified Surgical Tech
- At least 2 years experience in cardiac and vascular surgery
- Minimum 1 year experience in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Minimum 1 year experience in a Level I Trauma facility
- Experience with cardiovascular/thoracic instrument reprocessing
Required Skills
- Scrub experience required
- Proficient in general OR, thoracic, vascular, and CVOR procedures (e.g., CABG, EVAR, TEVAR, valve replacement)
- Aseptic technique
- Crash cart management, scrub and circulate duties
- Equipment documentation
- Familiarity with EPIC charting system
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Certified Surgical Tech credential required
- State license verification required within 30 days of start
- National certification for Surgical Technologists is not required, but specific certifications may be required for new travelers after 3/28/25 (e.g., HSPA or CBSPD for SPT)
- Background checks including 7-year criminal background, fingerprinting (BCI & FBI), and education accreditation confirmation required
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification)
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership role
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Competency exams and unit-specific competency testing may be required
- Background and compliance training including fraud, waste, and abuse training required
- Fingerprinting must be completed using specific state codes and within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if there is a break in service over 90 days
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start

- Parking options are available but at candidate's expense
- Flexibility and willingness to work varied shifts and call are essential
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted
