Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cartersville, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Unit Details

  • Patient diagnoses include General Medical-Surgical, Peritoneal Dialysis, and Radial Bands recovery (no PCI)
  • Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
  • No on-call required
  • Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical nursing
  • First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)

Work Expectations

  • If one major holiday falls during assignment, traveler is expected to work it
  • If two major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work both
  • If three major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work two of them
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Orientation & Compliance

  • Orientation hours vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
  • Full compliance with onboarding requirements is mandatory to start on time
  • Non-compliance may delay start by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Requirements

  • References: Two clinical references required
  • Skills checklist updated within the last 12 months
  • Verification of most recent work history required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)

Notes

  • Floating assignments will be within the facility and scope of practice
  • Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
  • Candidate profile review by manager within 48 hours after confirmation
  • Strict compliance with all documentation and credentialing required for timely start

This position offers an opportunity to work in a diverse Medical-Surgical unit with supportive orientation and acceptance of first-time travel nurses.
