Job Opportunity: Radiation Therapist
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Patient Age Group: Adults
- Start Date: March 2023 starts only
- Weekend Requirement: No weekends required
- Orientation: Bi-weekly
- Local Candidates: Local candidates within 75 miles considered at a reduced rate
- First-Timer Friendly: Yes, first-time travelers are welcome
- Flu Vaccine: Required, no exemptions or declinations accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiation Therapist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Radiation Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Health & Safety Requirements
- Flu vaccination mandatory (no exemptions)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months of start
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination every 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or positive titers required (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer required
- Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required for new candidates starting October through March
Background & Compliance
- Background check within 90 days of start, including multi-county and alias searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 90 days
- Education verification required for Radiology/Cardiology specialties
- OFAC sanctions list search within 30 days of start
- Employment application and 7 years of work history required
- Two professional references from employment within 12 months, including at least one supervisor
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Competency exam required (unit-specific)
Additional Requirements
- Candidate must set up a Duke Guest Account prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems
- Sterile Processing Techs (if applicable) must submit a badge photo after Guest Account setup
- Completion of facility-specific online modules prior to orientation
- Compliance with facility-specific competency checklists (CBOs) within 3 weeks after start date

- No weekend shifts required
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly
- Local candidates within 75 miles considered with adjusted rate
- Flu vaccine is strictly required with no exemptions allowed
This position is suitable for Radiation Therapists with at least 2 years of experience who are comfortable working adult patient populations and meeting comprehensive health and compliance requirements. Prior travel experience is not mandatory.
