Job Description

• Perform complete dissection, gross description, and selection/submission of tissue for microscopic examination and special studies (e.g., flow cytometry, immunohistochemical staining).
• Work under the direction of pathologists, carrying out their duties with high ethical standards and integrity.
• Photograph gross and microscopic specimens.
• Assist in preparing educational conferences and provide training to pathology personnel, including residents and medical students.
• Serve as a liaison to other departments and laboratories to ensure quality healthcare.
• Maintain pathology protocols, procedures, reports, and data.

Required Qualifications

• Pathologists' Assistant certification (PA) from ASCP
• Minimum 1 year of Pathologists' Assistant experience within the last year
• Associate's Degree in Biological, Chemical, or related Laboratory Science, or a Bachelor of Science degree

Required Documents and Compliance

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Background checks including national criminal, state, county, SSN trace, sex offender, and federal exclusion lists
• Education verification with official transcript or diploma
• Missouri state-specific background search within 30 days of start
• Primary source verification of certifications and licenses within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within the last 12 months (not required annually)
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Immunization and health requirements including:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (with follow-up if positive)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or declination
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (mask required if exempt)

Additional Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific confidentiality agreements and code of conduct acknowledgements
• Completion of competency exams as applicable
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years of start
