Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Tele RN) - Mission Hills, California
Employment Type: Per Diem
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Job Description
Tele RNs are needed for per diem shifts. This role involves caring for patients on a telemetry unit with a focus on cardiac monitoring and management.
Shift Details
- Night shifts
- 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience
- Certifications:
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- LA Fire Card (required)
- EPIC electronic health record experience
- References covering 1 year of employment in the specialty within the last 3 years; at least one reference must be a supervisor (charge RNs accepted)
- Comfortable working with no orientation

- Management of cardiac drips (no titration)

Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI certification required
- LA Fire Card: Mandatory; must be obtained prior to or within 30 days of start
- Additional Preferred Certifications:
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for Telemetry RNs)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) preferred for Psych/Behavioral Health but not required here
- EPIC Training: Must complete assigned EPIC modules after access is granted
Compliance and Documentation
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination (required if onsite)
- Fit mask test (respirator clearance) required for travel candidates; per diem candidates exempt after 5/20/24
- Education verification and employment application covering at least 5 years
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in specialty within last 3 years, including supervisor references
Orientation and Training
- No formal orientation provided; candidates must be comfortable starting without orientation
- Completion of Providence Health and Services WorkRamp modules required prior to start, including:
- Core modules for RN profession in California
- Specialty-specific modules for Telemetry/Stepdown units
- Epic training modules after access is granted
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to float to other Providence facilities within a reasonable distance if required
- All candidates must have an agency badge and provide a passport-style photo for badge creation
- Compliance with Providence’s annual regulatory and specialty training modules is mandatory
- Candidates must maintain all certifications and health requirements current throughout the assignment
This position is ideal for experienced Telemetry RNs with strong cardiac monitoring skills, who are comfortable working night shifts and independently with minimal orientation.
