Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (Contract)

Location: Lincoln, Nebraska
Employment Type: Contract Clinician
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide standard respiratory therapy, ventilator management, protocols, blood gases, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Care for newborns, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Perform patient assessments, arterial blood gases, non-invasive and invasive ventilation management.
  • Participate in Codes and Rapid Response calls and airway management.
  • May perform advanced skills depending on competency, including assisting with Neonatal Resuscitation, high frequency ventilation, and duties in Level 3 NICU.

Equipment Used

  • Bipap (Vision/V60), Philips V60’s, Servo ventilators
  • Fisher & Paykel heaters and Airvo
  • I-Stat for Point of Care testing
  • Pyxis medication security system
  • EPIC hospital-wide computer system

Schedule

  • Typically 12-hour day shifts (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM)
  • Every third weekend and holidays scheduled as needed
  • No on-call requirements

Floating

  • May float to Level 3 NICU if NICU experience is present

Dress Code

  • Navy blue scrub tops and gray (pewter) scrub pants
  • Solid navy or gray T-shirts with approved logo under scrub tops
  • Scrub jackets matching scrub top color
  • Modest shoes in black, white, or gray
  • Clean, neatly combed hair, beards, and mustaches
  • No extreme hairstyles or visible offensive tattoos

Orientation

  • 36 to 48 hours depending on experience and competency
  • Additional orientation for Level 3 NICU skills

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an acute care setting (highest required)
  • NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
  • Nebraska State Respiratory Therapy License required
  • BLS certification (AHA, ARC, or Military Training Network) required
  • ACLS certification (AHA) required
  • PALS and NRP certifications preferred
  • NICU experience preferred
