Job Opportunity: Technologist - Cardiac Services
Location: Soldotna, Alaska
Employment Type: Contract Clinician
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Description
Under general supervision, you will provide technical support and assistance to physicians during diagnostic and invasive cardiovascular and interventional radiology procedures. Responsibilities include:
- Performing scrub and hemodynamic monitoring duties during cardiac catheterizations, vascular, and interventional radiology procedures.
- Using clinical knowledge, technical skills, and professional judgment in accordance with professional and departmental standards and protocols.
- Assisting in the holding area.
- Providing care assessment before, during, and after procedures, including patient instruction.
- Preparing and maintaining all pertinent procedural information.
Equipment Used: EPIC electronic charting system.
Schedule
- Five 8-hour shifts per week.
- Call required (details to be determined based on staffing).
- Some weekends may be required.
Unit Information
- New service line starting soon.
- Unit size: 4-6 beds.
- Dress code: Scrubs.
- Orientation includes service partner orientation on the first day plus department-specific training.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an approved school of radiologic technology.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in diagnostic and/or interventional cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology lab.
- Certification or eligibility for one of the following at time of hire:
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
- Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) with 4 years of cath lab experience.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Demonstrated clinical competence in:
- Basic cardiac physiology and pathology.
- 12-Lead EKG interpretation.
- Physiologic monitoring including intracardiac pressure waveform knowledge.
- Pacemaker operations (implantable and external).
- Use of radiographic equipment related to cardiac care.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4 years combined experience in cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology lab.
- ARRT Advanced Level Certification in Cardiac Interventional Radiography.
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist.
Additional Notes
- Floating to other units/departments is not identified at this time.
- This is a new service line with an anticipated start-up date; early hiring is preferred to complete required training.
No prior travel experience is explicitly required for this position.
