Job Opportunity: RN (Registered Nurse) – 10E Stepdown Unit

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Population

• 29-bed Stepdown/MedSurg unit (currently under construction, opening Q1 2026)
• Flex unit serving both floor and step-down patients based on hospital needs
• Diverse patient population with primarily medical diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Stepdown: 3:1
  • MedSurg floor: 6:1

Required Experience & Skills

• Open to new and experienced nurses
• Must be able to manage:

  • 6 patients on MedSurg floor
  • 3 patients on Stepdown unit
• Must have EPIC electronic medical record experience
• RNs will have orders to titrate drips (e.g., heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbitol, ketamine, PCA opioids, TPN)

Certifications

• BLS (AHA) required

Equipment & Support

• Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP on floor and stepdown; HiFlow and ventilators in stepdown (vent settings adjusted by ICU)
• Remote telemetry surveillance center with central monitoring; RNs are not required to interpret telemetry strips
• Telemetry monitoring equipment by Phillips

Staffing & Scheduling

• Charge RNs and House Supervisors available 24/7; charge RNs may take patient assignments initially but goal is to have a free charge RN
• Clinical Associates (nurse aides) present with goal of 3 CAs per shift (ratio approx. 1:10)
• 12-hour shifts; block scheduling is attempted but not guaranteed
• Weekend positions available (agency RN roles posted as weekend shifts)
• Expect to work about half of recognized holidays
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating to other floor or stepdown units expected

Dress Code

• Royal blue and white scrubs

Orientation & Shift Details

• Unit-specific orientation provided
• Weekend day shifts: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
