Job Opportunity: OR Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Boise, Idaho

Job Description

  • Travel assignment as an OR RN in a hospital setting.
  • Work schedule: 12-hour shifts (9 AM - 9 PM), rarely overnight shifts unless covering night call.
  • Call requirements:
    • Weeknight call: Typically 4 hours after scheduled shift, may cover up to 12 hours if needed (volunteers first, then 1-2 times per contract).
    • Weekend call: 12-hour in-house day shift, volunteers first, then about once per month.
    • Holiday call: 12-hour in-house day shift, volunteers first, then about once per month.
    • Call response time: 30 minutes.
  • Floating: Rare, only to nearby surgery centers or other local hospitals; may float to CVOR (robotic thoracic) if experienced.
  • Orientation: Approximately 1 week including general and unit-specific orientation.
  • Scrubs provided by hospital (color: grey).
  • EMR system: EPIC.

    • Pediatric (all specialties and trauma)
    • Adult general surgery
    • DaVinci robotic surgeries
    • Neurosurgery (spines and craniotomies)
    • Pediatric scoliosis
    • Orthopedics (total joints, trauma, sports medicine, spica casts for pediatrics)
    • Urology (complex cases including DaVinci, kidney, prostate, cystoscopy)
    • Oncology (attached oncology center)
    • ENT
    • Gynecology (including c-sections for accreta; L&D handles simple c-sections)
    • Bariatrics (robotic or laparoscopic Roux-en-Y, sleeves, gastric bypass)

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience required.
  • Preferred: 1-2 prior travel assignments (prior travel experience preferred but not explicitly required).
  • BLS Certification required.
  • Must have broad experience across multiple surgical specialties; candidates should be able to identify their top 2 strengths/areas of expertise.
  • Scrubbing is not required for RNs on this unit.

  • Charge nurse coverage is available 24/7.
  • OR techs are present on the unit.
  • No block scheduling; shifts scheduled based on department needs.
  • Facility enforces a 50-mile radius rule for candidates’ permanent address.
