Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech) - Iowa, Albia
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology
- Current and unrestricted Iowa permit to practice as a radiologic technologist
- Certificate from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (mandatory reporting certified or within 90 days of hire)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: CT certification or CT experience
- Venipuncture experience
- Proficient in English for communication with patients, families, and caregivers
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook
Job Responsibilities
- Schedule patient exams and perform receptionist duties as needed
- Perform diagnostic exams including correct techniques, patient positioning, and protective shielding
- Perform CT examinations following proper CT protocols
- Start IVs to inject contrast agents for CT exams
- Perform C-arm procedures in the operating room
- Manage exams in PACS and burn disks
- Observe radiation protection standards for patients, self, and staff
- Assist radiologist with special exams, including patient prep, sterile techniques, and medication preparation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Radiology department
- Participate in department huddles, in-services, meetings, and educational opportunities
- Adhere to all departmental policies, procedures, and budget guidelines
- Maintain patient and hospital confidentiality
- Promote positive relationships with patients, visitors, coworkers, and providers
- Complete on-the-job orientation and competency skills checklist
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
Physical Demands
- Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently
- Mobility in patient/treatment areas required
- Frequent talking and hearing
- Intermittent physical activity including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, lifting, and supporting patients
- Requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills
- Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work Schedule
- Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Occasional weekends
