Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• No self-scheduling or block scheduling

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• CVICU (2 years of experience)
• CVICU experience within the last year
• Ability to interpret cardiac strips
• Ability to titrate vasoactive and sedative drips

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS preferred
• CCRN is a plus
• Immediate post-op experience is a bonus
• Prior travel ICU assignments are preferred

Unit Details

• 20 monitored private beds
• Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1
• Charge nurses are present 24/7 and may take teams
• House supervisor is present 24/7
• PCT support is available
• Respiratory therapists are available 24/7
• Monitor techs are available
• Philips monitoring is used

• Post open-heart surgical patients
• CABG and valve patients
• Dissections, AAA, vascular procedures, and carotid cases
• Post-cardiovascular procedure patients
• STEMI, unstable angina, unstable NSTEMI
• Cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, severe heart failure
• Targeted temperature management
• Transcutaneous and transvenous pacing
• TAVR patients
• Ventilated ICU patients
• Overflow patients from other ICUs, including COVID patients
• Upcoming: post-VAD placement and post-heart transplant patients
