Virtual Monitor Tech – Phoenix, AZ
Job Overview
- Position involves remote surveillance of cardio-pulmonary rhythms via a central monitoring station in a virtual hospital setting.
- Responsible for recognizing, recording, and reporting dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias.
- Work is performed under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Each technician may monitor up to 60 patients simultaneously using advanced IT technology.
- Must follow established protocols for communication and emergency situations to support patient outcomes.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Night shift position with mandatory availability for 2-3 day shifts for orientation.
- Must work 4 weekend shifts per schedule (weekends defined as Friday/Saturday for night shift).
- Holiday work required.
- No set schedules.
- No call or standby requirement, but may occur if census drops.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited program including EKG interpretation.
- Minimum 2 years of recent related work experience required; 3 years preferred.
- Must pass Advanced Dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (lethal rhythms are pass/fail with only one attempt).
- BLS Certification required.
- Cannot hold another job while on assignment.
- Must comply with a strict no cell phone policy; hospital provides a work phone.
- Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
Orientation & Training
- Unit/department-specific orientation required.
- Mandatory in-person orientation with equipment vendor (GE) for initial group.
- Orientation includes 2-3 day shifts even for night shift hires.

- Position is within a 50-mile radius rule; local rates do not apply.
- The facility does not sign timesheets.
