Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Hemodialysis (Contract)
Location: New York, NY

Job Summary
Provide safe, competent, quality care to patients in an inpatient hemodialysis unit. Deliver nursing care based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational standards. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and evaluate patient care plans.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Deliver patient care using Relationship Centered Care principles and nursing process.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs; apply critical thinking in care management.
- Integrate assessment and intervention skills in nursing care delivery.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members on care planning and evaluation.
- Prioritize patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and discharge planning.
- Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Communicate professionally with patients, families, and care teams.
- Manage assignments within Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model.
Patient Experience
- Role model Relationship Centered Care practices such as bedside shift reports, purposeful rounding, medication review, and discharge wrap-up.
- Respect patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Use evidence-based practices to understand patient perceptions of care.
- Address patient and family concerns and escalate as needed.
- Demonstrate caring, respect, empathy, and active listening.
Quality and Safety
- Practice safe, patient-centered care and identify barriers to improvement.
- Demonstrate clinical skills essential to quality and safety.
- Implement process improvement strategies and participate in peer reviews.
- Collaborate on quality improvement projects and nursing research.
- Follow high reliability principles to avoid high-risk behaviors.
- Escalate safety hazards according to protocol.
- Document nursing practice to support quality and performance initiatives.
Operations
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
- Coordinate supply and inventory management with nursing leadership.
- Escalate resource deficits appropriately.
- Use patient-focused, cost-effective approaches to care and resource utilization.
- Document accurately and thoroughly per regulatory and legal standards.
- Facilitate patient throughput during shifts.
Professional Development
- Support clinical colleagues, patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Advance clinical competence from novice to expert.
- Maintain a professional image and communicate with empathy and respect.
- Apply ethical principles in decision-making.

Required Qualifications
- Current New York State RN License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 2 years RN experience
- Minimum 2 years experience in Hemodialysis and Medical-Surgical nursing
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- EPIC electronic health record experience highly preferred
- Ability to work a 3x12 schedule including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts
- Staffing ratio guideline: 1 nurse to 2 patients
Additional Information
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing considered with relevant experience or active BSN matriculation
- Prior travel experience is required for travel positions (1 year travel experience), but not required for per diem roles
