Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Medical-Surgical

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin

Contract Length

• 6 weeks

Work Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• On-call/call back with minimum 2-hour callback pay during low census

Unit Information

• MAP Unit – Medical and Pediatrics (travelers do not take pediatric patients)
• Common patient conditions: respiratory illnesses, stroke, neurological conditions (seizures, MS, chronic back pain), gastrointestinal illness, diabetic management, renal failure, urinary tract disorders, sepsis, wound care, clotting disorders, infectious diseases, acute alcohol withdrawal
• Typical patient ratios:

  • Days: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
  • Nights: 1 nurse to 6-7 patients

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin RN License
• BLS Certification
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (Trauma Level II experience highly preferred)
• EPIC charting experience required

Additional Information

• Contractors must be outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Scrub color: any color
• During flu season, flu and COVID vaccination is strongly encouraged; unvaccinated travelers must wear masks at all times per facility policy (mandatory compliance)
• Low census hours (up to 36 hours) are unbillable but may require call back with pay if called in

This position is ideal for experienced Medical-Surgical RNs comfortable with night shifts, floating across units, and managing a diverse adult patient population in a fast-paced hospital setting.
