Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Progressive Care/Telemetry

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel Contract

Contract Details

• Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: March 16, 2026
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Float: Required to float to all inpatient units as needed
• On Call/Call Back: May be placed on call during low census; minimum 2-hour call back pay if called in
• Low Census Hours: Eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours per contract

Unit Information

• 44-bed Intermediate Cardiac Stepdown Unit
• Fast-paced with high patient turnover
• Patient types include post-op CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defib, ablations, acute chest pain/MI, med/surg overflow (detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure, fem-pop bypass)
• Typical patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients

Required Qualifications

• License: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS required
• Skills: Must be able to pass an EKG test during the first week of hire
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years in Intermediate Medical Care (IMC), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or Telemetry
  • Minimum 1 year strong cardiac experience in Cardiac SDU/Intermediate Cardiac/Cardiac ICU
  • Experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips is mandatory
  • At least 1 prior travel assignment completed (prior travel experience required)
  • Minimum 1 year recent EPIC charting experience

• Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed)
• Flu and COVID vaccination policy: During flu season, travelers who decline vaccination must wear a mask at all times per facility policy; non-compliance may result in corrective action

This position is ideal for experienced cardiac telemetry nurses with prior travel experience looking for a fast-paced, challenging travel assignment in Wisconsin.
