Registered Nurse – Intermediate Care

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (12-hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 36 hours guaranteed
Schedule:

• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• Eligible for up to 36 hours of low census unbillable hours (can be scheduled in increments as low as 4 hours)

Unit Information

• Observation Unit / Inpatient setting
• 8-bed unit with 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio (2 RNs per shift)
• Patient population includes anemia, cellulitis, COPD, CHF, dehydration, pre-op, urology, GI cases
• Drip medications administered include Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, Heparin
• Average patient stay up to 48 hours
• High volume of admissions and discharges
• Background in observation units or step-down MS/Telemetry units preferred
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips required (EKG exam required during compliance)

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin RN License
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification (ARC or AHA)
• Minimum 3 years nursing experience in specialty
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required
• EPIC charting experience required

Additional Information

• Must be located outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to qualify as a traveler
• Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed)
• Positive attitude, resilience, ability to manage change, and strong teamwork skills are highly desired
• Compliance with flu and COVID vaccination policy mandatory during flu season; unvaccinated travelers must wear masks at all times
• Orientation week hours may vary; guaranteed hours apply except during unit closures on holidays
