Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Wausau, Wisconsin
• Cardiovascular Operating Room / anesthesia-focused role
• Start date: ASAP
• Contract length: 9 weeks
• Guaranteed hours: 40 per week

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, various 8-hour shifts
• Weekend and holiday rotation
• On-call coverage includes weekday call, weekday backup call, weekend call, and holiday call
• Response time for call is 30 minutes, ready in the OR

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• CVOR (3 years of experience)
• CVOR experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with conscious sedation
• Experience assisting with intubations and fiber optic scopes during intubation
• Experience with sterile techniques for central lines
• Experience assisting with placement of arterial lines
• Experience assisting with placement of central lines
• Experience assisting with placement of lumbar drains
• Experience assisting with placement of Swan Ganz catheters
• Experience operating Belmont equipment
• Experience operating Cell Saver equipment
• Experience operating Level I equipment

Key Skills and Responsibilities

• Strong OR/CVOR circulating experience
• Assisting with intubations and fiber optic scopes during intubation
• Sterile technique with central lines
• Assisting with arterial lines, central lines, lumbar drains, and Swan Ganz catheters
• Starting IVs, drawing labs, setting up medication pumps, and running Belmont, Cell Saver, and Level I
• Assisting anesthesia during heart surgeries, traumas, elective surgeries, and general surgeries
• Main focus on the cardiothoracic program
• May be asked to complete downtime tasks

Work Environment

• 21 operating rooms covering all specialties
• 4 to 5 rooms assigned per day
• 2-week orientation with additional anesthesia skills training as needed

Additional Notes

• Vehicle required due to the 30-minute response time
• Epic is used for charting
• Cell Saver and Belmont are required equipment familiarity
• Scrub colors are provided
• Flu season policy requires masking at all times if flu and COVID vaccination are declined
