Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour nights (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Guaranteed hours: 36 hours per week (48 hours accepted upon request)
• Overtime applies after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts
• Weekend requirement: Every third weekend
• Holiday requirement: Every other holiday
• Float requirement: First to float within skillset; may float to nearby campuses (8-11 miles away) with 2-hour notice for cross-campus float
• On-call/call-back: Not required
• Patient population includes general medical-surgical cases such as gallbladder, colectomy, appendectomy, hip/knee replacements, ORIFs, COVID, GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, sepsis, UTI, respiratory issues
• Unit size: 45 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: Days 1:4-5; Nights 1:5-7
• May be required to precept students and new hires
• Scrub color: Navy blue (no competing health system or agency logos allowed)
• Attendance policy: 3 call-ins can result in termination
• COVID-19 vaccine not required (subject to change)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kentucky
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• One completed travel nursing assignment
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIHSS certification
• Recent experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly starting August 10
• Guaranteed set hours per week except during holidays when the unit may be closed
• Unit staffed with very experienced nurses
