Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Work three weekends out of every six-week schedule and every other holiday
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week (48 hours accepted upon request)
• Overtime applies after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts
• Float Requirement: First to float within skillset to nearby campuses (8-11 miles away) with 2-hour notice; mid-shift float possible but cross-campus mid-shift float unlikely
• On Call/Call Back: Not required

Unit Information

• 23 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio:

  • Days (7 AM – 3 PM): 1:4-5
  • Evenings (3 PM – 7 PM): 1:5-6
  • Nights (7 PM – 7 AM): 1:6-7
• Welcoming to travelers with strong teamwork culture
• Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires

Patient Population

• Cardiac (chest pain, stress test/Lexiscan, post cath without intervention)
• CVA/TIA
• Hypotension, syncope/dizziness, shortness of breath
• Post-surgical (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, stones)
• GI/Urology pre/post procedure
• Acute kidney injury (AKI), cellulitis, detox/CIWA

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license with current active compact license for Indiana
• Minimum 2 years of strong Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Minimum 1 prior travel assignment required (prior travel experience required)
• Current AHA BLS certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Recent EPIC charting experience (checkoff class required)

Skills & Competencies

• Cardiac cath recovery care (femoral/TR bands)
• Post-surgical care
• NIHSS/Neuro assessment and dysphagia screening
• Initiate and titrate drips (Heparin, Insulin)
• Indwelling drain management
• Straight catheter and Foley care
• NG tube insertion
• Blood administration and documentation
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills

Additional Information

• No local candidates within 40-mile radius
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs only; no hoodies, sweatshirts, or competing agency logos
• Strict attendance policy: 3 call-ins may result in termination
• COVID-19 vaccine not currently required (subject to change)
• GSA hours not guaranteed during orientation week

This position is ideal for experienced Medical-Surgical RNs with prior travel experience seeking a supportive team environment on night shifts.
