Job Opportunity: RN - PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)

Location: Houston, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit Size: 14-22 beds
Staff: 4-6 nurses per shift (day and night), prefer CNC-free staff and unit secretary on day shift
Patient Ratios: Med/Surg 4:1
EMR System: Meditech
Floating Areas: NICU Level 1 or 2 only

Typical Procedures

Cleft palate repair
Appendectomy (appy)
Chest tube management
Lumbar punctures
Seizure management
Noninvasive cardiology only
Neuro, ortho, general surgery, thoracic cases (thoracotomy/thoracoscopy, pectus bar implants)
No neurosurgery, stroke care, or foreign body removal from airway

Required Certifications

BLS (Basic Life Support)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Required License

Registered Nurse (RN) License in Texas

Experience Requirements

Minimum 1 year of experience in PICU specialty

Work Schedule & Environment

4 weekend days every 4 weeks
No on-call required
Supportive and collaborative team environment
Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid RN license in Texas
Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
