Registered Nurse - Wound Care
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 15 weeks
Job Summary
Provide direct patient care in a wound care setting, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient comfort and outcomes. Work within the scope of nursing practice and applicable state regulations.
Work Schedule
- Shift: Days (7:45 AM – 4:15 PM)
- Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
- Weekend and call hours as required by the facility
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Wound Care & Hyperbarics
- Number of Beds: 8
- Patient Ratios: 8:1
- Patient Population: Hospital outpatient department with 24-32 patients daily, including surgical, trauma, and chronic wounds (pressure injuries, venous ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers)
- Equipment Used: Hoyer lift, cast saw, vacuum
- EMR Systems: EPIC and iHeal
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
- Minimum 1 year of wound care experience, with wound care experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Job Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care for all age groups
- Maintain professional accountability and patient confidentiality
- Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by self and others
- Coordinate care with other departments
- Perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, and assisting patients
- Adhere to infection control and safety standards, including flu vaccination requirement (Nov 1 – Apr 1)
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs.
- Exposure to blood and body fluids
Work Environment
- Fast-paced outpatient wound care unit
- Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work varying shifts as needed
