Unit Information

• Location: Pasadena, Texas
• Unit: Emergency Department (ED)
• Number of Beds: 25
• Number of Staff: 65 Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs)
• Staff Composition:

  • Day Shift: 1 Advanced Nurse Manager (ANM), 9 RNs, 3 EMTs, 2 Unit Secretaries (US)
  • Night Shift: 1 ANM, 9 RNs, 3 EMTs, 1 US
• Patient Ratios: Minimum 4:1, maximum 5:1 if possible
• Equipment Used: Rapid infuser, vein finders, Targeted Temperature Management (TTM) machines, Central Venous Pressure (CVP) and Arterial lines, bedside ultrasound, warmers
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): ED Medi-tech

Job Requirements

• Required Certifications:

  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • CPI/TIC (Crisis Prevention Intervention/Trauma-Informed Care)
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department experience
• Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSN or higher degree
  • CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) or other relevant certifications

Typical Procedures Performed

• Open thoracotomy
• Arterial line and CVP readings
• Ultrasound-guided IV placement
• Targeted temperature management
• Critical medication drips and titration

• Unit Policies: Includes attendance, age-specific management, sepsis, STEMI and stroke protocols, trauma management, behavioral health management, code blue/gray procedures, and triage competencies
• Schedule: Weekend rotational schedule

Contract Length

• 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
