Position Details

• Work Schedule: 7 PM – 7 AM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On Call: No call required
• Floating: Per facility standard
• Nurse/Patient Ratio: 5:1 to 6:1 depending on staffing
• Patient Population: Cardiac and Telemetry patients (not a Stepdown unit)
• Scheduling: Blocked scheduling potential
• Temp-to-Perm: Possible

Job Summary

• Provide routine and complex nursing care independently in a clinical setting.
• Demonstrate awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care situations.
• Manage long-range goals and plans for patient care.
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers.
• Meet organizational competencies related to leadership and nursing standards.
• Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols; monitor side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

• Current RN license in Louisiana or compact state.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
• ACLS certification from AHA required.

Orientation & Competency

• New experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire.
• Preceptorship by trained staff with competency validation.
• Newly licensed RNs may participate in residency or specific orientation programs.
• Completion of annual competency verification required.
