Job Opportunity: Pharmacy Tech (Travel)
Location: Aurora, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Collaborate with the Director of Pharmacy to compound and dispense medications and pharmaceutical supplies based on physician prescriptions.
- Participate in hospital Performance Improvement plans.
- Consult and advise Administration, Medical Staff, and hospital staff on quality, regulatory, and risk issues.
- Support and serve as a consultant to clinical and Medical Staff.
- Assist the Director in coordinating and implementing Pharmacy activities.
- Interpret medication orders and ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and professional pharmacy standards.
- Supervise technical support staff and assist with clinical, quality management, and education programs.
- Provide support for patient care for adults and geriatric populations (ages 18 and older).
- Maintain and disseminate drug information through education and consultation.
- Assist other Pharmacists and Technicians with routine duties as needed.
- Direct and provide professional and technical guidance to Pharmacy personnel.
- Exercise professional judgment in providing therapeutic and drug information to patients and health professionals.
- Enter a minimum of 40 medication orders per four-hour shift.
- Generate required reports (e.g., I.V. production reports).
- Perform backup procedures and maintain aseptic techniques.
- Check technician-prepared products prior to release and ensure accuracy of medication orders.
- Maintain logs for I.V. refrigerator temperature and hood cleaning.
- Prioritize work to prepare STAT, Now, and Waiting orders appropriately.
- Review patient profiles to ensure safe and appropriate drug therapy, preventing duplication, interactions, and adverse drug reactions.
- Ensure medication dosing is appropriate based on patient factors (height, weight, age, renal function, disease state).
- Monitor pharmacokinetics dosing and modify doses as needed.
- Keep current on new drugs and maintain security of Pharmacy and controlled substances.
- Communicate workload status and pending issues to the Director.
- Float between Aurora and Denver facilities approximately 3 days in Aurora and 1 day in Denver (subject to change).
Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Must have a valid Colorado Board of Pharmacy (BOP) license.
- Must have BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year recent Pharmacy experience in a hospital setting preferred.
- Schedule:
- Shifts: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- Saturday/Sunday 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM plus on-call duties.
Patient Population
- Adults and Geriatric patients (ages 18 through 65+).
Additional Notes
- Candidate will be required to float between two facilities as needed.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
