Role Overview

Travel RN role in Labor & Delivery. The unit cares for deliveries, circulating c-sections, antepartum patients, and newborn initial assessments.

Schedule

• Days: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
• Weekend requirement: Yes
• On call: No call

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• Labor and Delivery (1 year of experience)
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• BLS
• AWHONN Intermediate FHM or AWHONN Intermediate FHM Instructor or AWHONN Advanced FHM Instructor or AWHONN Instructor Trainer or C-EFM
• NRP
• ACLS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty
• Perinatal RN Residency, or recently practicing in a Perinatal Setting

Assignment Details

• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Floating: No floating
• Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN standards:

  • 1:1 on Pitocin for induction or augmentation
  • 1:2 cervical ripening (Cytotec or low dose Pitocin)
  • 1:2-3 antepartum, depending on acuity
  • 1:2-3 triage
  • 1:1 immediate postpartum (2 hours postbirth), mother and baby

Additional Notes

• New hires must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire
• Navy blue or pink scrubs
